About Me

After a successful career of 26 years with the Army, retiring as Chief of the CINC's Action Group, Central Command, I choose to combine my knowledge of leadership and his skills in systems analysis to attack America’s next big challenge:  Energy Security.  While in the military, I served in key assignments, culminating my career with US Central Command in Tampa, Fl., where I was a principal advisor to the General Tommy Franks. Unfortunately, I disagreed with the strategic underpinning for operations in Iraq and decided to work outside the federal government.  I served as the Deputy Supervisor of Elections in Hillsborough County, Florida (fixing the process, not the elections!) until I started Sabot 6, Inc., as a leadership development company.  We later transitioned to focus on the energy industry, but with the same development tasks.

My commands include the 1st Armored Division Artillery, 1st Battalion, 78th Field Artillery and 9th Battalion, 1st Field Artillery. I've spent time in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Iraq and Washington DC and understands the complexity of these varied environments. While in Washington, D.C., I provided leadership for an effort to link the strategic importance of energy security to the tactical relevance of reducing the use and transportation of fossil fuels in order lower the risk to soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines.

My work there was featured in Thomas Friedman's 2008 book Hot, Flat and Crowded. He is also featured in Amanda Little's Power Trip and the documentary Carbon Nation. I am a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, Class of 1976. I hold a Master's Degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Southern California, as well as a Masters of Arts in Strategic Planning from the US Naval War College.

I live in Valrico, Florida  with my wife, Anne.
